Second Flight Staircase Installation

In addition to the standard configuration Stairwell Hatch System, this version is for use with properties with a second flight staircase – either a straight flight or kite winder installation. Based on similar principles to the standard configuration, this version provides a safe standing platform from which the second flight staircase can be installed but differs from the standard version in that it doesn’t provide access once installed, it purely acts as a temporary standing platform whilst the second flight is installed.
The components of the second flight staircase configuration differ from those in the standard configuration in that they are comprised of only fixed grates and frames (no hinged hatch), with the set consisting of the following:

• 1x Left-hand cut-out fixed grate and frame 900mm x 1200mm*
• 1x Right-hand cut-out fixed grate and frame 900mm x 1200mm*
• 1x Fixed grate and frame 900mm x 1200mm
• 1x Fixed grate and frame 800mm x 1200mm
• 2x Telescopic joists 2500mm - 3500mm (only one telescopic joist required for a straight flight)

Ockwells Stairwell Platform Systems have been independently tested to BS EN 12811-1:2003. Each Stairwell Hatch Grate has been tested to accommodate two persons standing on each panel in accordance with HSE RR342. The equivalent Uniformly Distributed Load (UDL) of 252 Kg/m2 or 2.47kN/m2.
